The Edgbaston Sleepout
The Edgbaston Sleepout is taking place on the evening of Thursday April 27th in aid of St. Basils, Thrive Together Birmingham and Church Urban Fund working to tackle homelessness. We are inviting approximately 70 senior individuals in the city to band together to raise a collective £50k and sleep out under the stars at iconic Edgbaston Stadium. We’d love for you to get involved!
Homelessness is a major issue within the West Midlands and Birmingham in particular. There are seven times more people sleeping rough in Birmingham now, than there were 5 years ago. Birmingham is in the top ten local authorities for rough sleeping – with 55 per night recorded last year. Pressures on local services are compounding the issue with more rough sleeping expected in the near future.
With homelessness on the rise, the demands on charities are ever increasing and the need for support even greater.
The Edgbaston Sleepout promises to be an incredible experience. On the night, there will be tours of the grounds, a chance to have a hit in the nets, a light meal, speeches from special guests before heading out to sleep inside the stadium bowl. As a thank you, sleepers will also receive complimentary tickets to an RL50 fixture at Edgbaston. This is great opportunity to network with other key individuals across the city whilst banding together to address an important cause in the city.
